Hotel Gallery's Miharu Japanese restaurent

Been having this ramen craving for the longest time. It's all my friend's fault for tempting me with her stories of the many delicious ramen she had during her holiday trip to Japan. My friend recommended me to try out Miharu Japanese restaurent for really good ramen! Been dying to try this place out!

So happen after our trip to the zoo today, Gary had this craving for ramen! He was toking about some place near Robertson Quay and I suggested Hotel Gallery which we soon realise we were toking abt the same placE! THjie mentioned its too salty for her liking but nevertheless, she was sporting to go to the place because of us.

I was excited! Finally got to go try the place out! So 4 adults and little nat set out for Ramen!

The restaurent was pretty crowded during lunchtime so I was reading on the newspaper articles they had at the front of the shop. Seems like the place is quite well-known. Its like 1 of the top 50 restaurents in Singapore(SUnday Times Newspaper).

The restaurent is pretty small. You can choose to sit outside or inside. We decided to wait for our seat inside. Glad we did cause we had the platform seat! Fun! Me like small kiddo! haha!!

BC and Gary ordered the miso soupbase ramen while Th and I ordered the shoyu soupbase ramen. Apparently, Gary's and BC's order were different. Both their ramen honestly looks the same to me.

If you can see from the menu, there's Miso Tonikotsu and Tokusen Miso. Cant tell the difference from the pics and the english description. From the pic, it looks the same to me! BC and Gary ordered these two. WHo had what exactly, I cant remember. I wanted the special blended sho-yu at first but Gary advised me it might be too salty for first-timers. I decided to settle for the normal sho-yu.

BC's ramen with extra char siew! The smell was heavenly!!! I love his soup!! Rich and Garlicky!!!!! Really salty though! BC gave me all his bamboo shoots! I feel its a bit "smelly". I never like bamboo shoot in the first place!

IMG_7345
Gary's ramen! He was ready to attack but rearranged back so as to allow me to take a pic! Haha!! DIn get to taste this so dunno wats the difference.

My SHo-yu ramen!! Salty!!! But the soup base not as nice as that of the miso! :(! So sad! So I ended up kept stealing BC's soup to drink. I put laods of their specially blended pepper and chilli powder. However, i think the pepper made it even saltier! haha!! I love the way they cook their egg though! Love the soft yolk!

Anyway, we were drowning ourselves with loads of water after our meal! There is a kind of feeling on your lips when your food gets too salty. But the noodles were nice and springy! Gary commented he still comes back because he loves to relive the saltiness feeling once he forgets about it after a period of time. When he ask us if we were come back again, I was thinking, maybe not. Too Salty!!! Haha!!

I think perhaps the saltiness is due to the Ramen style from a specific region. I heard from THjie she went to some other part of japan ( i forgot!) where the ramen soup she had was sweet.

At least i tried the place out and satisfied my craving! Happy!!

Some zoo pics to share!

Lesson Learnt: Never ever go Zoo on a public holiday!!!

China Teahouse

China Teahouse (under 'Tung luk') is a place where my family frequents often whenever we have cravings for dim sum or during one of those special Sunday where we wanna eat at somewhere more comfy.

Actually its like the only dim sum place we keep going to. We attempted red star but guess mum and I are too fussy for that place. Really like to try out Wah Lok and Hua Ting for I heard their dim sum is really good! Oh well, somehow we either feel abit broke or by the time comes, we dun feel like going there. haha! Must definitely aim to try it out!

Anyway, went there recently, snapped a few pics and decided to blog it. Its really quite a comfy restaurent for dim sum. Its not rowdy like those old restaurent but yet, you still get those ladies to pushcart the different dim sums to your seats like those old times. I like the fact that you can order for a fresh hot dish if you dun wan it from the cart. I guess we love it much for the comfort.

Sometimes the food dun seem to be consistently nice but overall, its worth going back. My favourite is the mango prawn!! Mmm!! I love the water chestnut cake (ma ti gao!) and egg tarts! The normal dim sum are generally nice. The fried stuffs are really good too like the silver fish, baby squids but fried stuffs make u feel full fast and u feel sick after too much.

Nice place for family gatherings. Big-eaters should try out the hightea buffet they have. (never tried it yet).

Redbean pancake! I like! :)

Don Pie!

Passed by Don's pie shop recently. Mum decided to finally try out a couple of his pies! We bought a quarter of his chicken pie and a small sheperd's pie.

IMG_7220
Chicken pie! Those who have tried DOn's pie already know that his chicken pie is yummy! Its like mashed potatos and carrots with pieces of chicken and egghalfs in them. The pastry is nice and flakey and not so oily. However, my mum finds it too peppery for her taste.

IMG_7221
Sheperd's pie! This was a disappointment to me! Cause for me when I think of sheperd's pie I will think of comparing to that of my mums. Nice minced beef in thick gravy with smooth mashed potato. It turned out to be chicken inside! Haiz! :(! Such sadness for beef lover. N also, its too too peppery that i could not taste much.

It makes me crave for my mum's sheperd's pie! Boo hoo hoo!!

East Coast Lagoon - what's your favourite?

It has been a while since I went out with parents to have dinner at Lagoon Hawker Centre.

Because its a place i frequent since young, I never thot of blogging pics of it. Haha! I mean to me, its not somewhere new and exciting. So no point. Felt a bit boliao today and decided to snap a few pics of my favourite food there and blog it. Ha!

I know of a friend who absolutely loves the same kind of food from there like me! except the satay bee hoon though. I never had a thing for that. *wink to yx*

DSC01016
Beef Kway Teow! My absolute favourite and must-have when I m there. Of course, when the queue is darn long, i wun bother. The uncle takes too long to cook.
But he is a very clean man. He got 'A' for cleanliness wor. He really takes pride in his food. You can see from the way he arrange the beef so nicely before he put the soup and then carefully put in the spoon! haha!

DSC01017
Raw fish from the porridge stall! the porridge is good too but sorry, on diet! haha! Freaking expensive now too! 8 bucks for a few slices of fish and loads of veggie!

Suddenly recalled of the past when my grp of friends and I went East Coast in the morning to have porridge plus raw fish! its something we all like. Forgot why we were at East Coast in the first place though.. *oppz*

DSC01018
The duck rice!! Yummy yummy! this one is really good whether you eat it with rice or the porridge! I love the chilli! you must mix the watery sour chilli with the dry dark red chilli for the best combination to go with the duck! yumz!

I also adore the curry puff but uncle never open today. Sad ah! Marine parade hawker curry puff oso very nice! All my favourites since young!

Think the braised pig trotter's there oso very famous. My fwens used to adore them. I am not a 'pig trotter kind of person' so never tried it. Sold in the day.

The bad thing about being able to enjoy these food is that you got to queue for them. So its always better go early ard 6 plus 7. After that, I think you just spend time to queue for one ba. I always rush to queue my kway teow first, leaving my parents to stroll at the back. Scared the queue gets too long.
